AI Factories
As our Digital Innovations strategy team discusses in their recent white paper, Investing in AI:Everything, everywhere, and all at once, artificial intelligence has been the center of industrial strategy known as Industry 4.0, while consumer applications like chatbots and image generators have garnered the most attention recently. Commercial AI applications are already hard at work doing mundane, repetitive tasks behind the scenes, including in energy management, predictive maintenance, and logistics. Modern AI systems could accelerate that process. For instance, Google DeepMind’s RT-2 AI model, trained on both robotic-specific data as well as data from the web, enables machine vision-equipped robots to perform tasks that were not preprogrammed. More capable robots could increase the business case for investment in the sector, providing another tailwind for an already steady-growth industry.
