American expectations
With a couple of notable exceptions, US Americans are not particularly optimistic about the year ahead according to a survey conducted by Gallup. Although a single party gained majority control with Republicans taking the presidency and both the House and the Senate in the November 2024 elections, 77% of Americans expect a lack of political cooperation in 2025. Americans also predict global discord with both China and Russia expanding their clout around the world. However, despite those concerns, 54% of respondents expect continued strength in the job market and 66% expect the stock market will continue to rise this year.
