Big healthcare tech
The healthcare sector presents a significant opportunity for big tech companies such as Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Nvidia. Most developed countries spend over 10% of their GDP on healthcare, and the healthcare sector is investing substantial amounts of money in digitalization. Market intelligence company CB Insights mapped out the relationships (including acquisitions, partnerships, licensing agreements, and investments) between big tech and healthcare and found that most relationships are in health data and analytics followed by digital therapeutics and wellness tech. Each big tech company takes a different approach: Amazon focuses on primary and specialized care; Google focuses on health data and genetic therapeutics; Microsoft focuses on clinical research, drug R&D, and care delivery; and Nvidia focuses on artificial intelligence in drug discovery, genomics, medical devices, and imaging.
