Bouncing back
Various news outlets pointed to dwindling international travel to the US as a consequence of the US administration’s recent policies. Indeed, in March, arrivals from Western Europe dropped 17% in March compared to the same month last year. Other regions also showed declines. But in the most recent data about April, we see a bounce back. Arrivals from Western Europe rose 12% compared to a year ago. A similar pattern is visible in arrivals from other regions. Generally a time many people are off, Easter is probably the main driver, having taken place in March in 2024 but in April this year.
