Build, but not here
In the US there is a shortage of 3.8 million homes, either for sale or rent, according to the federal home loan mortgage provider, Freddie Mac. Homebuilders are still playing catch-up from pandemic-related supply shortages, and affordability is under pressure with rising interest rates and with the median home price some 40% higher than in January 2020. While 78% of respondents to a recent Redfin survey support policies to promote home building, just 32% would like new apartments built near by.
