Company chatter
We are in the midst of ‘earning season’, a period where companies publish their results and host earning calls where managements talk about the results and answer questions. Every quarter, the most commonly discussed topics are revenue, guidance and profit margins, but they are not the most interesting ones. In the last few quarters, management teams have been talking less about inflation, labor costs and supply chain disruptions; perhaps signaling the negative impact of those is not as pronounced as before. Economic slowdown and climate change are also trending down as topics. Topics trending up are artificial intelligence & machine learning and interest rates.
