Digital Latin
Over the last decade, internet usage in Latin America has accelerated, jumping from 43% of the population in 2012 to 78% in 2022. Over the same period, internet penetration in high-income countries around the world rose from 75% to 90%. Moreover, Latin American has seen higher adoption of many leading internet media platforms. For instance, 73% internet users in Latin America are Facebook users versus 58% of those in North America, according to analysis by the venture firm Atlantico. Similar trends have been observed in digital banking and e-commerce where the next digital billion consumers are sometimes even ahead of their developed market peers.
