Doctors without offices
Telemedicine has long been seen as a way to leverage technology to reduces costs, improve productivity, and expand access to healthcare. During the pandemic with all but emergency medical visits delayed, virtual health visits grew significantly. Since that time, online medical appoints have declined, but among consumers that took advantage of the offerings, satisfaction has materially improved. According to a survey conducted by Deloitte in the US, the percentage of consumers that attended virtual medical appointments fell from 57% in 2022 to 42% in 2023. However, over the same period, consumers rating their experience as very satisfied expanded from 39% to 56%. The Deloitte survey also notes the potential for connected fitness and health monitoring devices to improve medical outcomes as physicians gain access to more regular data on patient health.
