Flying high
After a period of catch-up (some would call it ‘revenge’) travel post-pandemic, the intent to travel among US consumers is not declining, according to a recent Deloitte survey. Air travelers passing through the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints reached 2.7 million in the beginning of this June, an 8% increase compared to 2023 and up 7% compared to 2019. 2024 is the first year that is clearly ahead of the pre-pandemic year 2019. Corporate travel has not recovered yet, according to most statistics but is forecast to reach 95% of pre-pandemic levels in the second half of 2024, according to research by Morgan Stanley.
