Home health
Healthcare spending in the US is projected to increase to USD 7.2 trillion by 2031 according to the latest annual projection by US health authorities. That equates to 19.6% of gross domestic product, far above the average when compared to other countries. US healthcare spending growth is largely driven by population aging. Over the next 10 years, the fastest growing segments of healthcare services is home health at 7.2% per year. Last month, the largest US managed care company UnitedHealth acquired home health provider Amedisys for USD 3.3 billion. Other companies have also been active such as Humana buying Kindred and CVS buying Signify. Home health benefits from care shifting into the home, as this often lowers costs.
