Humanoid
Earlier this month, 21 humanoid robots ran alongside thousands of runners at the Yizhuang half-marathon in Beijing. Although only six of the robots finished the race and the fastest robot took more than twice as long as the top male finisher, the event was an interesting showcase of the emerging technology. CB Insights notes that the venture investment into industrial humanoid robotics tripled in 2024 to USD 1.2 billion. Echoing comments made by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang at a conference in January, Morgan Stanley predicted this week that the market for humanoid robots will reach USD 4.7 trillion by the year 2050. According to that forecast there will more than 1 billion active humanoid robots in use in homes in business by 2050. While humanoid robots are not yet the fastest runners, the field is rapidly evolving.
