Investment perceptions

Americans’ perceptions about what the best long-term investment is varies from year to year, according to short-term changes in performance as found by a Gallup study. Gold, for example, is currently making a comeback in popularity compared to real estate and stocks, after 2022 where the S&P 500 decreased 19% in value, home prices peaked, and the gold price increased 6%. The Gallup study had two additional interesting findings. About 25% of stock owners think stocks are the best long-term investment. Also, about 4% of respondents answered they think cryptocurrencies are the best long-term investment.
