Money league

Last week Feyenoord, the main football club of Robeco’s hometown Rotterdam, won the domestic league. This gives Feyenoord a ticket to the lucrative European Champions League, putting millions of euros in the hands of the club. It made us wonder which clubs make the most money. In the 2021/2022 season, the most recent top grosser, Manchester City, generated EUR 731 million in revenue of which EUR 373 million from commercial (advertising, selling shirts etc.), EUR 294 million from broadcasting rights and EUR 64 million in matchday revenue. On average the top 20 highest revenue generating clubs had revenues of EUR 450 million of which 40% came from commercial revenue, 40% from broadcasting rights and 20% from matchday revenue.
