My way or the highway
The construction of highways in India has been a major component of the country’s most recent infrastructure spending cycle. The increase in pace of growth from just 14km per day in 2012, to 38km per day in the 2021, is resulting in a positive ripple effect on adjacent industries and industrial activity. Highway construction plays an integral role in stimulating economic growth, generating employment, fostering investor confidence, and reducing regional inequalities. Approximately 41,000 km of national highways are planned for construction under the current government program of Prime Minister Modi through 2031, an ambition they will easily achieve at the current rate of construction.
