Last week during his visit to the US, Indian Prime Minister Narenda Modi received a ‘red carpet’ welcome, with US President Joe Biden stating in a dinner toast “Two great nations, two great friends, and two great powers. Cheers." The trip comes at a time when the US is increasingly distancing itself from China. Coincidently, according the United Nations, India’s population likely also overtook China as the largest country in the world this month. Also of note, during his visit, Modi met with many of the largest technology companies in the world, several of which are led by CEOs of Indian birth. This raises the question, with an expanding economy and a well educated workforce, could the next wave of Indian CEOs leading global companies do so from their home turf rather than from abroad?
