Timing Gen Z
In 2023, young US Americans, particularly those aged 15-24, have subtly shifted their daily routines compared to 2019. This age group, largely representing Gen Z, has notably increased their time spent playing games, relaxing, assisting household members, using computers, and taking care of one’s appearance. The trend of spending more time on playing games has been evident even before the pandemic and saw a significant boost during it. Similarly, the decline in TV watching continues as a long-term trend. Interestingly, Gen Z has reduced their working hours in 2023 compared to 2019, reversing the trend observed between 2013 and 2019 when working hours were on the rise. Another notable shift is in the time spent on homework and research. Between 2013 and 2019, there was an increase in these activities, but from 2019 to 2023, there has been a decline. This change might be linked to the widespread availability and ease of use of artificial intelligence-powered chatbots.
